Development and characterization of a new bio-sourced composite material based on plant-based phase change material and vegetal concrete (hemp/flax shives)

This project aims to design and study new environmentally friendly construction materials, made from plant-based concretes (hemp shives/flax shives) and bio-sourced phase change materials (PCM), to address environmental challenges in the building sector. PCMs stand out for their ability to store and release a large amount of heat, providing efficient thermal regulation compared to traditional construction materials. Initial tests conducted on these new materials reveal that they are lightweight, sturdy, and capable of regulating both temperature and humidity. This versatility makes them highly promising for constructing more comfortable, eco-friendly, and energy-efficient buildings.
